Ride the Wave

Ah the emotions we are subjected to as human beings. How easily we fall prey to our negativity and the negativity of others. We think we have no control. In a way that’s right, but in a way it’s so far off. We choose how to feel in a situation. We choose how we will allow an event or comment to affect us. I think the ocean can give us a good model for our lives. There are waves, like the waves of our emotions. Sometimes the waves will be enormous and crush anything in their path, while other times the waves are gentle and soothing. The ocean has periods of calmness and periods of chaos. If we learn to ride the waves of our emotions and not get so caught up in that particular wave with the understanding that it will pass, we can lead more balanced existences. And then we realize that no matter how big that wave gets, a calmer set of waves is on its way.

ARt

I’m obsessed with CREATING. And seeing creation in action. I love to draw. I haven’t done so in a while, but I’m really excited to start up again. These drawings were from my senior year of high school, mostly when I was in Thailand.

I find people fascinating. Everything about them. Who they are in this precise moment and how they arrived here. Everyone has a story. Everyone has a past. And when you look at that person as a whole, it’s easy to empathize. We are who we are today because of everything that has led up to now. Our environment, our personality, our parents, our peers. So conditioned by the outside world. So much beauty we often fail to see. I see it. I see it in everything and everyone. My days are surrounded in beauty, when I choose to see it as such.

Poem

Emblazoned against the morning sky like a lion’s mane on fire

Burns a symbol of strength of life enamored

Near blinding to the naked eye

A force so powerful it takes each day by storm

Sure-footed faith love’s true desire

Expressed through self created form

Imprisonment is not an option

Though obstacles may cloud one’s path

Eyes closed in patient sweet surrender

The worst is in the past

An eagle rises, unfurling giant wings like open sails

Gaze set upon distant horizon

The open sky awaits you now

Soar straight into the beating sun

Your light burns bright

Magnetic all encompassing

Fire eyes burn plastic lies

Revealing universal beauty

Strength in wisdom
Strength in word

Strength in honest hand to heart

The day has come

Life has begun

Dazzling display of majesty

Everything is One

AMAZING

“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action. And because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is; nor how valuable it is; nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly of the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction; a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.”
